DeCommissioning The Bottle

As per my usual 'worst-case scenario' way of thinking, I had often thought BabyJ will take the worst physical traits of his parents - so i prepared myself that he will be a fat and short kid.
Lo and behold, after our paediatrician's visit last friday, he is instead a tall and skinny boy.

We need to increase his weightgain (currently at 2nd percentile on growth chart) so I had asked DrBooth if i should stop serving BabyJ my homecooked meals - explaining to her that i am really a lousy cook and maybe the kid knows it. (no kidding) Maybe Gerber does best, or even readymade frozen meals for babyJ .

She laughed and said dont be silly. The problem had beena the downward cycle of him not eating much and me giving him formula to supplement his diet hence making him too full to want to eat real food.

So its time to de-commission the bottles - cold turkey.
bye bye bottles and formula, hello whole milk and sippy cups.

And naturally BabyJ refused to drink milk from his cup.

So all weekend the J Household have been having water and juice from sippy cups, just to encourage BabyJ to mirror our behaviour.

MrJ refuse to allow me to take a picture of him drinking from his sippy cup, you'll just have to take my word for it...but I quite enjoy drinking my coffee (and a drop of Baileys) in MY sippy cup. I guess at some point, i will have to de-commision MY sippy cup.

The weekend also saw my two boys down with head colds and sinus infections. I made chicken soup in my crockpot and felt very mama-brady seeing my boys wallop the soup to it last drop. Its not skill, its fluke. i dont think i can recreate the recipe even if i try.
In the spirit of keeping the kitchen feeling warm and inviting on a cold february weekend, i also baked Peach Cobbler..from scratch, not of the add water to ready-mix variety.
You can see how excited BabyJ is, ready to tuck into the warm dessert. Alas, in my renewed epicurean confidence thanks to the succesful chicken soup 'incident', i modified a little the peach cobbler recipe.
So we tucked into an outwardly beautifully baked dessert, with a semi-uncooked filling.
oh well, you cant get lucky twice in a day.

Sash refuses to drink from her sippy cup too. She will drink from a normal glass but I refuse to let her milk everywhere so she still has her milk/juice from the bottle. I
